VA disability calculator

Enter your individual ratings the way they appear on your VA decision letter. The calculator arranges them highest to lowest, combines them with Table I of 38 CFR 4.25 (rounding each step to a whole number, the way the table does), applies the bilateral factor first when it applies, and rounds once at the end to the nearest 10. It then reads your monthly pay from the 2026 pay chart.

Enter each service-connected rating. Tick Bilateral for a rating on one side of a pair (an arm, a leg, or paired skeletal muscles) when the other side is also rated: the calculator applies the 38 CFR 4.26 bilateral factor, including the rule that leaves a rating out of the factor when that pays better. Ratings of 0% do not change the math and can be left out.

What this calculator does not do

It does not model Special Monthly Compensation, TDIU, or the extraSMC rates, and it cannot tell you what rating a condition deserves: that comes from the rating schedule and your evidence, not from arithmetic. If the result differs from your decision letter, the usual causes are a rating the letter counts differently (for example a bilateral rating VA treated as one side only) or a dependent VA has not added yet.
